You are not late, not early… you’re right on time
I used to think changing careers meant I messed something up. That I didn’t stick it out long enough. That I couldn’t “figure it out.” But the truth is, people change. What we want changes. What we’re good at evolves. And deciding to shift direction isn’t a sign of failure—it’s a sign you’re listening to yourself.
Some people know exactly what they want to do at 18 and do it forever. That’s great. But most of us? We try things. We outgrow things. We get curious about other paths. And that’s okay. It’s not a detour. It is the road.
It’s Okay to Change Your Mind
You’re not locked into a single version of yourself. You’re not bound to a career just because it made sense five years ago—or even five months ago. If something no longer feels right, you’re allowed to pivot.
Changing your mind isn’t flakiness. It’s a form of honesty. You’re being honest about your energy, your values, and your interests. You’re not staying for the sake of staying. And that’s brave.
People might not always understand your choices, especially if your path looks different from theirs. But you don’t owe anyone a life that drains you.
Delaying Isn’t Quitting
Sometimes, the timing’s just not right. Maybe you wanted to start that course. Maybe you planned to launch that side project. Maybe you thought you’d be somewhere else by now.
And maybe… you’re not. Yet.
That doesn’t mean it won’t happen. It just means you’re human. Life gets busy. Mental health gets real. Family, finances, focus—they all come into play. Delays happen. What matters is that you haven’t given up. You’re still thinking about it. That means something.
You’re still allowed to try again.
Permission to Pause
There’s a weird pressure to always know what we’re doing. To have a 5-year plan. To be “on track.”
But what if we took that pressure off?
What if you gave yourself permission to pause? To take a breath. To do something different for a while. To just live.
I’ve taken breaks. I’ve changed industries. I’ve started over. Not because I had it all figured out—but because I didn’t, and I needed to give myself space to find what felt right again.
Looking back, those pivots didn’t set me back. They helped me realign.
The Fear of Starting Again
Starting over is scary. It feels like you’re back at square one. But you’re not. You’re starting again with experience. With awareness. With more of yourself in the process.
Every path you’ve walked still counts. You learned from it. You grew from it. That doesn’t disappear just because you’ve chosen something else.
And here’s the truth: most people don’t care as much as you think. They’re busy figuring out their own lives. What matters is how you feel when you wake up in the morning. Do you feel curious? Fulfilled? Open? That’s what counts.
You’re Not Behind
If you need to hear this today, you’re not behind.
There is no finish line. No universal timeline. No one way to do life right. Just because someone else found their groove early doesn’t mean you’ve missed your shot.
You’re right on time. And you’re allowed to change directions as many times as it takes to find what fits.
Whether you’re switching careers, putting plans on hold, or just rethinking what matters to you, it’s all valid. It’s all part of the process.
The world doesn’t need you to have it all figured out. It needs you to be honest. And that honesty might just lead you somewhere better than you ever planned.
